Personal Bio: I came to PC (Go Hose!) in 2010 after completing my Ph.D. and working with pre-service teachers at The University of Texas in Austin (Go Horns!). I joined the PC faculty where the entire campus is committed to excellence in teaching and developing strong student-faculty relationships.
After completing my degree in sociology at Texas Christian University (Go Frogs!), I became certified to teach secondary social studies and went on to get an M.A. at The University of Houston (Go Cougars!). I began my teaching career as a sixth grade teacher in Houston, TX, and over nine years managed to teach every grade 6-12. While teaching World Cultural Studies, Texas History, US History (AP), Sociology, Psychology and World Geography, I worked with amazing students and colleagues who forever altered my views of teaching and learning.
My research interests include curriculum studies and an abiding interest in … well, interest. Student interest at the crossroads of relevance and motivation continue to excite and intrigue me, and my particular questions are grounded in the secondary curriculum with an emphasis in social studies.
I am married to a wonderful woman, and our two children keep life an adventure. My wife is a pediatrician with the Greenville Hospital System and we enjoy sports, music, and the great outdoors.
