Julie Smart received her Ph.D. in Curriculum and Instruction with an emphasis in Elementary Education from Clemson University in Clemson, SC. Her specialty areas are K-12 mathematics and science education. She is the coordinator for Elementary Education at PC. Julie has been published in state, national, and international peer-reviewed journals and presents her research annually at state and national professional conferences. Her primary areas of research are student motivation in science and mathematics and pre-service preparation in classroom management. Julie is married to Andrew, and the couple have a son and a daughter. They also have a vivacious “four-legged child,” Abby, a Yellow Labrador. Julie is also an avid musician and enjoys singing, song writing, and playing the piano, violin, and guitar. Julie has been active in the sport of figure skating as a competitive singles skater, ice dancer, and coach. She is proud to be part of the PC family!
